MDViewer privacy

Updated on September 8, 2026

MDViewer runs entirely inside your computer: no account, no ads, no telemetry, and nothing is ever sent anywhere.

Who is responsible

MDViewer is published by LEVELHARD, of Roque Ribeiro da Silva, and distributed through the Microsoft Store. Data protection contact, and the address for anything about this policy: roque.ribeiro@levelhard.com.br.

There is no account, and there is no server

There is no sign-up, login, password or profile. The app never asks for your name, email, phone number or any document. There is no MDViewer server, no API and no usage analytics service: the app works without an internet connection, from start to finish.

Your files are yours

MDViewer opens, reads and edits Markdown files that already live on your computer. Their contents never leave the machine: nothing is uploaded, nothing is copied to any cloud, and no one but you reads them. Nothing is written to your file until you choose to save.

What is stored on your machine

App preferences (theme, language, reading column width), the list of recently opened files and folders, and the automatic draft of whatever you are editing, so your text survives an unexpected close. All of it lives in the app private area, on your computer, and is gone when you uninstall.

The diagnostic log

The app writes a local technical log, used to investigate slowness and errors. It stays on your machine and is never transmitted: there is no automatic crash reporting and no diagnostic upload. The app itself has a shortcut that opens the log folder, so you can read it or delete it whenever you like.

The Microsoft Store

Install, update and purchase (MDViewer is free) all happen inside the Microsoft Store, and Microsoft collects and processes the data of that distribution under its own privacy policy, which LEVELHARD does not control. What LEVELHARD receives from the store are aggregate install and rating figures, which identify no one.

What MDViewer does not do

It shows no ads. It uses no usage analytics, no third-party SDK and no crash reporting service. It does not track you across apps or sites. It does not access contacts, camera, microphone, location or calendar. It does not sell, rent or share your information, because it holds none of it.

Children

MDViewer is a document reader and editor, with no content directed at children and no data collection. Since there is no sign-up and nothing is transmitted, the app receives personal data from no one, at any age.

Your rights

Brazilian data protection law (LGPD) and equivalent regimes grant you access, correction, portability and deletion of your personal data. With MDViewer there is nothing to request: no data of yours leaves your computer, so no database of ours holds anything about you. Deleting everything means uninstalling the app. If you still want to exercise a right or ask a question, write to roque.ribeiro@levelhard.com.br.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, the text changes with it and the date at the top is updated. The version in force is always the one published on this page, which is the same one cited on the MDViewer listing in the Microsoft Store.
